Rising Sons

DE Mario Edwards Jr.
Son of Mario Edwards
Five-year NFL veteran
Ever seen a 6-foot-4, 280-pound high school kid run the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds? There's a reason Mario Edwards Jr. is a five-star player and the nation's top prospect and why many schools are hoping he can be swayed from his commitment to Florida State. Edwards -- whose dad, Mario Edwards Sr., played five seasons in the NFL -- is a monster on the defensive side of the football field, and top-tier schools from coast to coast have been asking about him since his sophomore season.
The younger Edwards, in addition to possessing excellent speed for a guy his size, makes it a habit of getting the job done in the weight room. An Under Armour All-American, the younger Edwards bench presses 405 pounds and squats 570. His work ethic is what makes him such a quality player and prospect, and he credits much of that to the knowledge his father has passed on.
