Navy 6: One of the most successful projects the NBSD Recycling Center undertook was the removal of 342 rail cars from the Concord Naval Weapons Station. They worked with Ecology Recycling and made an $811,000 return on the scrap metal. Ecology Recycling works with the state of CA to clean up large scale accidents, such as train crashes. This saved the Navy millions in offset costs by not paying a company to remove and dispose of the cars. They are very proud of this project and it demonstrates the benefit and value of the solid waste recycling program they work hard to maintain.
