Photovoltaic Array: The roof of Stinson-Remick Hall is home to a 240 panel, 49 kw photovoltaic array. In addition to contributing electricity to power the building's research labs, the solar panels are tied in to an extensive metering system that enables students to study their efficiency under various weather conditions. Stinson-Remick Hall is a LEED Gold Certified engineering research and teaching facility which houses a nanotechnology research center, a semiconductor processing and device fabrication clean room, an undergraduate interdisciplinary learning center, and the University's Center for Sustainability Energy. A thin-film solar installation located on another campus engineering building enables students to compare the relative efficiencies of the two technologies in the same local environment.
