CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Sparks
look to continue their strong play to start the season when they
travel to play the Charlotte Sting. The Sting open the season under new leadership under first-year coach Anne Donovan, who previously was an interim coach in Indiana. Donovan inherits the fourth leading WNBA scorer, Andrea Stinson, who averaged 17 points per game last season. Rookie Kelly Miller, the second overall pick in the draft, joins the team from Georgia and was a two-time All-American. The Sparks have began their three-game season-opening road trip with a pair of victories. Latasha Byears posted a double-double in the 66-63 win at Houston on Monday while Tamecka Dixon scored 21 points and Lisa Leslie added 12 boards as the Sparks spoiled Orlando's opener with a 68-62 win. Los Angeles finished with the league's best record a year ago but was swept by Houston in the Western Conference finals.
