GAME DAY PREVIEW Game time: 7:30pm ET
Houston (5-1) at Detroit (2-2)

AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The Detroit Shock look to begin the season on a positive note when they host the league's only champion, the Houston Comets, Saturday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Shock will attempt to rebound from another non-playoff season when they begin under new coach Greg Williams after firing Nancy Lieberman-Cline.

They welcome back Wendy Palmer's 13.8 points per game and hope rookie Deanna Nolan, the Shock's first-round draft choice, can make an immediate impact.

Houston is 1-1 on the season after dropping the league opener to the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday. It rebounded with an 82-78 victory at Indiana on Thursday.

Tina Thompson and Janeth Arcain each posted career-highs of 26 points in the win.

These teams meet once more on June 7 in Houston.
