He was still Clemson's interim coach when the Tigers toppled rival South Carolina in 2008, a win that secured his post as head coach. Afterward, former player Thomas Austin had the photo framed with an inscription of one of Swinney's favorite Bible verses: "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."
"It's just a priceless gift to me that captured an incredible moment," Swinney said. "We made each other better, and everybody pulled together."
