So the first season of the new millennium -- and the first in four years without Chamique Holdsclaw dominating courts around the country -- is under way. But as Connecticut entered the season as No. 1 in nearly every poll, including top 10 rankings by ESPN's Robin Roberts and Beth Mowins, March and the Final Four Philadelphia Experiment are a long way off. One thing is for certain, though: Tennessee's 6-foot-1 junior, Tamika Catchings, is the preseason Player of the Year favorite, and is being counted on to pick up where Holdsclaw left off.
