20. San Diego State
In their final season in the MWC before moving to the Big West, Steve Fisher's Aztecs will tussle with UNLV for the league title. But they're tough enough to excel in March, too. Jamaal Franklin, Chase Tapley and Xavier Thames all averaged double figures last season. Transfers James Johnson, Dwayne Polee II and JJ O'Brien add bulk and versatility to the program. And 6-8 freshman Winston Shepard should make an impact in his first season. SDSU creates mismatches on offense because of the multiple-guard lineup that Fisher employs. But this team doesn't back down on defense, either. And now the Aztecs have more bulk and depth. Fisher often succeeds when he has the right pieces. And 2012-13 should follow that trend at San Diego State. -- Myron Medcalf
