Los Angeles Raiders | Super Bowl XV, XVIIIStanford coach John Ralston originally wanted Jim Plunkett to be a defensive end. Yet Plunkett had other plans; he wanted to be a starting QB. His wish was granted in 1968, and as QB for Stanford, Plunkett won a Heisman and led the Cardinal to their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1952. As a pro, he picked up where he left off in college by triumphantly leading the Oakland Raiders to Super Bowl XV. With a 261-yard, three-TD performance, Plunkett ensured the Raiders' victory against the Eagles, 27-10. He'd win another title in Super Bowl XVIII, as he threw for 172 yards and a TD. Plunkett was the first minority quarterback to win a Super Bowl and the only Hispanic player ever to be named Super Bowl MVP.
