Under the glass top of Richt's desk are colored sticky notes, on which he has written Scripture from the Bible. Next to Luke 18:1-8, Richt wrote, "Florida Game." The Scripture is the Parable of the Persistent Widow, a story Jesus Christ shared with his disciples to show them that they should never give up and always pray.
Richt said he wrote the reminder to himself during the week before Georgia defeated rival Florida 31-24 on Oct. 30, 2004. The Bulldogs ended a six-game losing streak against the Gators and defeated them for only the second time in 15 meetings.
"I don't know why I used it," Richt said. "I guess I was just praying hard. It was one of the first years we'd beaten them in a while."
