On one of the walls in Richt's office is a photo collage commemorating the 10-year anniversary of H.E.R.O. for Children, Inc., an Atlanta-based nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children affected by HIV/AIDS. The nonprofit was founded by two UGA graduates, and Richt helped them get the charity off the ground and is an honorary board member.
For some reason, a black piece of paper covers the lower left corner of the photograph. It's hiding Buzz, Georgia Tech's mascot, who is standing with former Yellow Jackets basketball coach Paul Hewitt, another honorary board member.
"I did that myself," Richt said. "I really didn't want to look at it the rest of my life, but I didn't want to take the picture down."
