Near the top of Richt's computer keyboard is a small, clear box that includes a bolt. It's a piece of NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson's winning car from the June 1 FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks at Dover Speedway in Dover, Delaware.
It was a gift from former Georgia linebacker Darius Dewberry, who in 2013 became the first African-American strength and conditioning coach in NASCAR.
"After every race, they break the car down for inspection and then rebuild it," Richt said. "It was a gift from Darius. Unfortunately, I dropped the case and cracked it. I think it gives it a little bit of character, though."
