The last thing Andersen sees on his way out of his office is a sign outlining the expectations for Wisconsin's coaches. When Utah State played in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in 2012, Andersen saw a similar sign in the coaches' locker room put up by then-Boise State coach Chris Petersen.
He loved the idea and crafted a similar sign for his staff, changing some of the phrases. Several phrases are familiar in the coaching world, like "You get what you emphasize," but one of the more important ones is the last: "Smile, laugh and be positive."
"It's a great idea for me," Andersen said, "when I close my door at night or go out to practice or throughout the day, I look at it and understand who you want the coaches to be as an assistant and who you expect yourself to be as a head coach."
