Prepare to get the stinkeye if you ask Miles about the significance of displaying an LSU helmet autographed by Billy Cannon near his desk.
"The significance is it's the great Billy Cannon," Miles said with a grin.
Enough said. After all, Cannon was involved in the most famous play in LSU history on Halloween night 1959, when he returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown to lift No. 1 LSU over No. 3 Ole Miss, 7-3. Later that year, he became the first and only Tiger to ever win the Heisman Trophy.
Maybe a better question would be why Miles wouldn't display a Cannon helmet in his office.
"I'm the coach at LSU and I think that run, at that time, against Ole Miss, it's the right thing," Miles said, referring to Cannon's legendary punt return.
