In one corner of his office, Miles keeps an eye-catching display case. It is filled with an unusual assortment of items that Miles has stuck inside through the years. Leaning against that display case is an oddball gift from an LSU fan: a stick that's approximately 5 feet tall and decorated especially for Miles.
It features an LSU logo at the top and an inscription that says "LSU coach Les Miles, The Mad Hatter," which is a reference to one of Miles' nicknames. It also has a set of uprights carved below the inscription.
"Somebody put this thing together so that I could have a weapon, I guess," Miles said. "The Mad Hatter stick with the little [uprights]. It's kind of cool."
