The rings have gotten progressively gaudier, and the bling is just about impossible to miss across from Meyer's desk.
Like most of the office decorations, the championship baubles are tools for recruiting. But they also spark nostalgia for Meyer when he reaches for the first one he won, a 1986 Big Ten championship ring that sits in close proximity to the two he claimed for winning the national title -- and dwarf it in size.
"I'll never forget it," Meyer said. "I couldn't believe it. You dream it, then all of a sudden you've won it. I'll never forget that one."
