Inside Bob Stoops' Office - View 2

Of everything in Stoops' office, the item that grabs the eye first is a surfboard leaning in a corner, a gift from the Rose Bowl.
"You don't see a lot of those in coaches' offices," Stoops said, pointing to a small piece missing from the top of the board. "A shark bit that out of there. ... No, just kidding, I don't surf."
The MVP of that Rose Bowl, quarterback Nate Hybl, arguably has been the most-criticized player of the Stoops era. With Hybl at the helm the season before, Oklahoma fell at home to Oklahoma State in the most stunning upset in the history of the rivalry. Hybl returned to being a backup after Jason White recovered from a knee injury. But White suffered another torn ACL, pushing Hybl back behind center. The Sooners ultimately bounced back to win the Big 12, and later, Hybl led them to the win over Washington State in the Rose Bowl.
"One of my favorites: much-maligned Nate Hybl, Rose Bowl MVP," Stoops said. "His name is etched on the wall of the outside of that stadium forever now as a Rose Bowl MVP and a Big 12 champion quarterback."
