Boxing's Heavyweight Championship Lineage

Michael Moorer
1994
Moorer, a former light heavyweight titlist, became the first left-handed heavyweight champion when he outpointed Evander Holyfield in 1994 by majority decision. The southpaw's time in the spotlight, however, was cut short seven months later in his first title defense against 45-year-old George Foreman. Moorer, who led on all three scorecards by a wide margin entering the 10th round, was knocked out on a short right hand from Foreman, who became the oldest heavyweight champion in history.
Moorer rebounded in 1996 to claim an alphabet title before losing it in a rematch to Holyfield the following year.
