2011 Preseason All-America Baseball Team

Anthony Rendon
Third base | RiceLast spring, analysts debated whether Rendon could outmaneuver Bryce Harper to become the first pick in the 2010 draft. And Rendon had plenty of supporters as he captured several player of the year awards as a sophomore. Rendon buttressed his .394/.530/.801 line by ranking second nationally in home runs and sixth in RBIs while walking more than all but one player. Rice coach Wayne Graham calls Rendon's defense big league caliber already, but marvels more that the gifted righty can also take the ball deep from the left side, just for fun. The only concern about Rendon -- which shouldn't hurt his draft stock -- is that his first two seasons ended with right ankle injuries. After dislocating it with Team USA, he was back on the field in January. Pitchers, beware.
