2014 NBA playoffs: Miami Heat during the Big Three era

May 30, 2014
Back In The Finals
Indiana was supposed to be the bully now. The Pacers, who stretched the Heat to seven stressful games in last year's Eastern Conference finals, were believed to have taken that next step. Indy snatched the East's top seed away from Miami and was seemingly prepared to take even more. Only something got in the Pacers' way -- their own success.
Indiana couldn't handle being the hunted and down the stretch faltered to a point where defeating Miami became a long shot once again. The Pacers had the advantage with a possible Game 7 on their home floor, only they never got the chance to defeat their nemesis. The Heat won the series in six games, joining the Celtics and Lakers as the only franchises to reach four consecutive NBA Finals.
The weaker East had been vanquished once more; now came Miami's most difficult challenge yet: defeat a scarred, desperate, immensely talented Spurs team -- again.
