When Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera signed one of those ridiculous baseball contracts that seem to get larger every year despite making little fiscal sense for the franchises (Cabrera's was for 10 years, $292 million), LeBron couldn't help but lament his situation. See, in the pro sport where one player can have the largest impact, LeBron's earnings have a ceiling. Major League Baseball has none, hence the Triple Crown winner earning an average of $31 million a year. Some have suggested LeBron's true value would be close to $50 million a year, if it were allowed.
So it made perfect sense when LeBron said this: "I wish we didn't have a salary cap," he said. "It'd be nice to sign a 10-year deal worth $300 million."
