Tribute To Trayvon

On the night LeBron was passing up a final shot at the All-Star Game in Orlando, 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed in nearby Sanford, Florida, in an act that many saw as senseless and driven by racial stereotypes. As the case drew more and more attention, the Heat decided to release a statement and a powerful tribute photo with the team wearing hooded sweatshirts, as Martin wore the night he was killed, and their heads bowed.

"This situation hit home for me because last Christmas, all my oldest son wanted as a gift were hoodies," Wade, a father, told The Associated Press. "So when I heard about this a week ago, I thought of my sons. I'm speaking up because I feel it's necessary that we get past the stereotype of young, black men and especially with our youth."
