2014 NBA playoffs: Miami Heat during the Big Three era

May 17, 2012

Lance Taunts LeBron

It was beginning to fall apart for Miami. Bosh was back at home, a few days into recovery from an abdominal injury that occurred in Game 1 of the conference semifinals versus Indiana. Wade was limping badly, unable to perform anywhere near his usual level because his troublesome knee had been drained earlier that day, and was visibly clashing with Spoelstra during the game. And even then -- benchwarmer Lance Stephenson got in the act, displaying the choke sign from the bench when LeBron missed a second-half free throw in Game 3.

By the time it was done, the Heat were in their first of two desperate situations in the 2012 playoffs, trailing Indiana 2-1.

Of course, after LeBron was seen screaming encouragement to his teammates, they recovered to win the next three games, and even got some measure of revenge on Stephenson, who was elbowed by Miami's Dexter Pittman in the late stages of Game 5.
