2014 NBA Playoffs: Indiana Pacers' path

'Selfish Dudes'

The Pacers are in the middle of losing eight of 11 games, costing them their hold on the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Hibbert is in a tailspin. His playing time, shots and production are down, as are most of his teammates. The Pacers experience a stretch during which they fail to crack 80 points four times in five games. Hibbert receives much of the blame, having scored six points or fewer seven times over the previous month.

In an interview with NBA.com after a loss in Washington on March 28, Hibbert lashes out at teammates in the latest sign of chemistry issues that have been infecting the Pacers' locker room.

"There's some selfish dudes in here," Hibbert said. "Some selfish dudes. I'm tired of talking about it, we've been talking about it for a month."

During the next few weeks, there will be verbal altercations on the bench, a report of a fight in practice, and numerous players-only and coach-player private meetings. It is the most adversity the franchise has faced since its turnaround began four years earlier.
