BOX SCORE
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- Paula Moore hit a jumper with five seconds left in the second overtime Friday night, giving Syracuse just enough cushion to hang on and hand No. 18 Old Dominion its second consecutive loss, 85-84. Sharron Francis' 3-pointer with two seconds left drew the Lady Monarchs close, but it wasn't enough for the hosts, winless since learning two-time Colonial Athletic Association player of the year Lucienne Berthieu will miss the season because of a knee injury. Monique Coker hit two free throws for Syracuse (1-0) to tie it at 72 at the end of regulation, and Okeisha Howard hit two for the Lady Monarchs at the end of the first overtime to tie it at 80. Beth Record and Leaf Newman scored 24 points apiece for Syracuse, and Sameerah Aiken added 10. The Orangemen shot 44 percent and held Old Dominion to 39 percent. Hamchetou Maiga led Old Dominion with 24 points and Howard added 16. | ALSO SEE Womens College Basketball Scoreboard
