Reducing Fossil Fuel Consumption: Last year OU Parking and Transportation used about 24,000 gallons of compressed natural gas (CNG) in its specially equipped vehicles. With 21 CNG vehicles, 61 flexfuel (E85), three gasoline/electric hybrids, 24 biodiesel and 55 electric vehicles, OU Parking and Transportation reduces the University's consumption of fossil fuels. University Fleet Services has the capability of fueling vehicles with compressed natural gas. Ethanol and bio-diesel fueling capabilities are available at the Transportation Operations Center, which opened in November 2008. In addition, any new vehicles purchased will be capable of using an alternative fuel.
