Boxing's Heavyweight Championship Lineage

Rocky Marciano
1952-56
Born Rocco Francis Marchegiano, Rocky Marciano is the only heavyweight champion to never lose or draw in his career (49-0, 43 KOs). He also is one of two fighters (Brian Nielsen is the other) to hold the record for most consecutive victories by a heavyweight.
Marciano won the heavyweight title by stopping Jersey Joe Walcott in 1952 with a tremendous left hook in the 13th round. Marciano defended the title six times, including a ninth-round knockout of Archie Moore, before retiring in 1955. Marciano was awarded Ring Magazine's fighter of the year award three times. Marciano died in an airplane accident in 1969, one day before his 46th birthday.
