24. California
The Bears did well to make the NIT during what was to have been a transition year, and they now return four starters and one of the most experienced teams in the Pac-12. Jorge Gutierrez and Harper Kamp are scrappy seniors who have set the tone, and reigning conference freshman of the year Allen Crabbe is oozing with potential. Coach Mike Montgomery, who is healthy after a battle with bladder cancer this offseason, built rival Stanford into a powerhouse and now looks to bring consistency to a program that two years ago captured the Pac-10 title. The Bears will be playing into mid-March if they manage to stay healthy and develop some depth because their starting lineup should be solid if not spectacular. No question big things can happen in Haas Pavilion this season. -- Diamond Leung
