Doug Flutie's Hail Mary lifts BC over Miami

Nov. 23, 1984: "Caught by Boston College! I don't believe it!" In one of the most famous plays in college football history, Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie had his Hail Mary answered by teammate Gerard Phelan on the game's final snap to lead Boston College to a 47-45 win over Miami.

Flutie had to scramble away from pressure and actually flung the pass near his own 37-yard line. The ball somehow sailed just over the hands of two Miami defenders and nestled into Phelan's hands as he fell into the end zone. Flutie's name is all but synonymous with that play.
