Sammy Baugh fires TD pass in first Cotton Bowl

Jan. 1, 1937: TCU and Marquette met in the first-ever Cotton Bowl, and the Horned Frogs from nearby Fort Worth took the title with a 16-6 win, thanks to a 55-yard touchdown. Quarterback Sammy Baugh, the fourth-place Heisman finisher, hit L.D. Meyer for the touchdown in the first quarter, the first in the bowl's history, and Meyer, of course, followed up his catch by kicking the extra point. That happens all the time now, right?
