Future FSU president takes lateral the distanceSept. 24, 1966: Late in the second quarter at the Orange Bowl, Miami scored a touchdown to take a 13-7 lead over rival Florida State. On the ensuing kickoff, FSU's Bill Moremen fielded the ball at FSU's 6-yard line. He ran to FSU's 17 then threw a lateral back across the field to T.K. Wetherell. Wetherell, who would later become FSU's president, ran behind a wall of blockers down the sideline for an 83-yard touchdown. FSU won the game, 23-20.
