2011 Preseason All-America Baseball Team

George Springer
Outfield | ConnecticutDon't ask a scout about Springer unless you've got an hour to listen and a towel to clean up the drool. The muscular 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete looks like a free safety and runs like one as well. Springer has produced 34 homers and 45 steals over the past two seasons and is primed to post a 20-30 season. Sure, Springer remains something of a work in progress following a 70-strikeout season, but the consensus shows the center fielder turning his above-average power, speed, defense and arm into more consistent production. He helped UConn to a school-record 48 wins and its first NCAA regional hosting opportunity a year ago, and both Springer and the Huskies look to continue their parallel rises to prominence in 2011.
