The trophy is awarded annually to the team that wins the Boston College-Clemson game, and for Swinney in 2008, it also served as a memento for his first career win as a head coach. "It was a special moment," Swinney said. It was his second game as interim coach after taking over for Tommy Bowden, and in the five years since, he's had to surrender the trophy back to BC only once.
