Inside Chris Petersen's Office - View 1

Petersen is an avid reader. Though his office is still quite sparse, there are several books and magazines in the room. Earlier this summer he was getting excited to read Doris Kearns Goodwin's "The Bully Pulpit" (he really enjoyed her book on Abraham Lincoln, "Team of Rivals") and Daniel James Brown's "The Boys in the Boat," the story of the University of Washington's nine-man crew team that won the gold medal during the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

During the season, Petersen doesn't have a lot of spare time for novels. But he does take time to check out Harvard Business Review every month when it shows up in his mailbox at the school.

"There's usually at least one article in there that I can get something out of and applies to what we're doing around here, our culture, our organization, how things flow," Petersen said. "There's usually actually a couple good articles in there, but I have a hard time getting the time to read the whole magazine. But there's always something good that I hone into."
