In the fall of 2013, walk-on wide receiver Nick Pasquale was killed when he was struck by a car in the early morning hours in San Clemente.
The redshirt freshman's death was difficult on the team and Mora, but it also became a point of inspiration for the Bruins during the 2013 season. "Everything we do, we try to honor Nick," Mora said. "I always want him near me."
