On May 21, 2012, Mora and his director of player personnel, Pat Girardi, were sitting in Mora's office talking when Mora guaranteed victories in his first year over USC and Nebraska.
He proved prophetic: The Bruins went on to defeat both teams in Mora's first season as head coach. Girardi had made a note of Mora's prediction in his iPhone, and then printed out the screenshot and presented it to Mora as a Christmas gift.
"I must have been getting a little bit cocky that night," Mora said. "I had never even coached a college game."
