Stoops feels honored by all the recognition he has received for his coaching. But the trophies he holds most dear are the ones linked to past giants of the game, like the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award, which is given to the national coach of the year.
"You hear about all these guys," said Stoops, who won the Bryant award in 2000. "Of course I didn't know them, but as a coach -- and those other are special, too -- but Paul 'Bear' Bryant, Eddie Robinson, Bobby Dodd, when you're a coach, it's pretty special being associated with them."
