Miami Welcome Party
Watching James, Wade and Bosh backstage, preparing to be unveiled to a Heat fan base collectively lightheaded with excitement, was surreal. They were little kids all over again, tugging on their jerseys to make sure they were tucked in just right, joking about how they'd pose once they were revealed. And then, like rock stars, they were introduced to the AmericanAirlines Arena crowd, complete with concert lighting, blaring music, plenty of smoke and signs everywhere claiming "Yes. We. Did."
The event was supposed to be for the fans of Miami to celebrate. Instead, it turned into more mockery. Because of the grandiosity of it all, yes, but mostly because LeBron ... counted.
He counted titles that weren't there yet, and he counted rather high.
Technically, LeBron "predicted" eight titles -- he stopped at "not seven" and then said, "when I say that, I really believe it."
Oh, and he said, "Once the games start, it's going to be easy."
Suddenly, The Decision wasn't the worst thing he'd done that week.
