2014 NBA playoffs: Miami Heat during the Big Three era

Feb. 3, 2013
Heat Start Streak
It was Super Bowl Sunday, and the Heat were playing an afternoon game north of the border. After a routine 100-85 win over the Raptors, Spoelstra allowed his players to stay in Toronto to watch the big game. It was a simple gesture, but one that was especially well-received by his players. On the bus ride back to the airport, Shane Battier gave an impromptu speech that was distinctly memorable but also a you-had-to-be-there moment. The phrase "touch the people" is about all the detail the team would be willing to share. But that night and that speech, and of course the win over Toronto, marked the start of the second-longest winning streak in NBA history.
