2014 NBA Playoffs: Indiana Pacers' path

Hello, Hibbert

The Pacers want to trade Jermaine O'Neal, one of the league's highest-paid players, who has two years and $43 million left on his contract plus a bad knee. They have an interested suitor in the Toronto Raptors, but talks last days as medical exams have to be completed on O'Neal and T.J. Ford, who would come to Indiana along with the No. 17 pick.

The two teams finally agree to terms on draft day. Toronto picks for Indiana, which is surprised to find Hibbert, who has slipped because of some poor performances in draft workouts, still on the board. The Pacers draft Hibbert, a potential franchise center to replace O'Neal. In all, the Pacers make two trades that night, dealing three players and a second-round pick for seven players -- and one of them is a future All-Star, Hibbert.
