Ryan Sheckler's new signature shoe on etnies, the
Marana, drops today after much fanfare on Instagram. The Marana has been coveted by legions of fans, who had noticed Sheckler wearing his new pro model throughout this year's
X Games and
Street League contests.
Sheckler and the etnies footwear designers have created a performance engineered midsole, ankle support -system and an indestructible rubber toe cap for his seventh pro model. The Marana is also highly stylized and points to the evolution of Sheckler's personal style.
Since he first stepped on a board when he was eighteen months old, the young phenom has been an anomaly within the skate industry. Winning his first X Games gold in 2003, Sheckler was only thirteen years old when he turned pro. He's been one of the dominant contest skaters, winning the Dew Tour Overall in '05-'06 and X Games gold in '08 and
'10 and he's currently an integral part of Street League.
Sheckler's name has been synonymous with skateboarding since the debut of his 2007 MTV show, "
Life of Ryan". Representing some of the biggest brands in the industry, like Plan B, etnies, Oakley, Red Bull and
GoPro, Sheckler has also been included in six of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater video games.
Fans of "Life of Ryan" were disappointed when the MTV show went off the air in 2010, but he's an active brand ambassador, so Sheckler's fan base has continued to grow. Footage of him, both on and off his board, is regularly released via Red Bull's web series "Sheckler Sessions" and proving the versatility of GoPro's cameras in the "Day in the Life" video.
Not one to rest on his endorsements, he started the
Ryan Sheckler Foundation a few years ago and continues his work with other national charities. In addition he continues to progress as a skater, having just returned from a trip for the Plan B video, Sheckler said, "I was just filming in China for two weeks and I'm hyped that one pair of Marana's lasted this entire skate trip and didn't break. It was great!"
Skate fans will have to wait for Sheckler's full part in the upcoming Plan B video, but for die hard Sheckler enthusiasts the Marana is available at skateshops and online at
