Ramapriya: "Just tuning in. Why on earth did Bangladesh bowl just 23 overs in what looks like a normal session of play?" -- 22 overs of fast bowling + humid conditions

12.30pm Welcome back to the day's second session. Ten minutes till we go again. We just saw one over of spin in the first session. How will Bangladesh start the second?

Also, in case you missed me mentioning earlier, today marks the 50 year anniversary of Sir Vivian Richards' Test debut in Bengaluru. What I forgot to mention was that it was also Gordon Greenidge's debut. During the lunch break, I discovered this amazing video of Greenidge's Test debut century. Have a look at this video while we wait for the restart.

12:01pm A session of attrition. West Indies enjoyed the better of it in the first hour, going through unscathed but Bangladesh, to their credit, never allowed the hosts to get away, meaning that when Taskin struck twice in quick succession, they applied pressure on West Indies.

Louis and Hodge have done well since to stick together. The scoreboard, though, has not ticked along at a rapid rate and if Bangladesh can use the conditions to nip out a couple quickly after lunch, West Indies will start feeling the pinch. Sreshth will be back for the beginning of the second session in about half an hour.

Taijul Islam to Hodge, no run, back of a length outside off. Hodge waits for it and punches it towards mid on

This will most likely be the last over before lunch, and we will get a look at spin in the first session. Here's Taijul. Around the wicket

Hasan Mahmud to Louis, no run, length on middle and off. A bit of curve away from Louis, who accounts for the movement well, playing it towards wide mid on with a straight bat

Hasan Mahmud to Louis, no run, pushed in fuller on off. Louis comes forward much more confidently and defends

Louis got away with it, but he was very displeased with how he played that ball

Hasan Mahmud to Louis, FOUR, edged and safe! Back of a length outside off. A hint of movement away and that draws Louis into a poke. Dangles his bat and the ball, luckily for the batter, flies over the cordon for four!
