Shadley van Schalkwyk: "The key was swinging today [ball], which is quite nice. So I know, knowing the batters, I know Faf plays offside quite well, so I just tried to duck him up a bit. And luckily, it went straight down this time. And for others, I just tried to keep it as simple as I can, try to hide the ball every now and try swing it both ways, just to keep the batter guessing in the Powerplay. Honestly, I think I've just fallen in love with the process again. That's the biggest change I've made. I love the odd work behind the scenes, so that's always something I've loved. I think I've found the love for that again, which just makes the process and the results, if it goes my way, they're lucky enough. But I just really love the process that I've been working with and the plans. [Surface] It was a touch low. The ball was swinging but I think under the lights the guys did a little bit better playing a few games. So hopefully our batters can just kick on with that."
8:50 pm It's an innings of varying performances from both teams. The Knight Riders dominated the powerplay. The Super Kings crushed the middle overs. The Knight Riders made another comeback at the last moment of the innings. Faf du Plessis had looked good the way he started the innings, but soon departed in the second over. The TSK were in early trouble, as they had lost their first three wickets in the initial four overs, all taken by Van Schalkwyk. Smit Patel and Shubham Ranjane started to reconstruct the innings, a 64-run partnership had built up between the two batters. Ranjane was very impressive with his innings, scoring 70 runs off 45 balls. But what about Donovan Ferreira today? A masterpiece innings of power hitting, scoring 42 runs off 21 balls, dispatching 3 massive sixes! Knight Riders had struggled in the middle overs with the ball, leaking runs frequently with continuous slot length deliveries. But Russell was brilliant in the death overs, keeping things tight. Both Russell and van Schalkwyk picked up three wickets each.
