Injury will hinder season preperations Reuters | |||
SEPANG, Malaysia -- Injured French 500cc
rider Olivier Jacque faces a month-long layoff after breaking
his right arm in a crash in testing this week.
"I can go home now without being operated on but I won't be
able to get back on the bike for another four weeks," the
reigning 250cc world champion said after being discharged from
hospital on Wednesday.
Jacque, moving up to 500cc this season, crashed during
Yamaha testing in Malaysia on Tuesday when he mistakenly changed
down to first gear instead of second on a curve.
He will miss official tests in Jerez, southern Spain, this
month but will be on the grid for the first race of the season
in Japan on April 8.
"I was just starting to learn the bike and now I'll have to
go straight into the season without properly testing and without
finding the correct settings," he said.
