Hairabedian tops Seidel at WSOPE

Poker

Roger Hairabedian doesn't typically get a lot of love and exposure from the poker industry, but really, it's time to push him into the spotlight. The Frenchman captured his second career World Series of Poker bracelet in Event 5 of the 2013 WSOP Europe, defeating eight-time winner Erik Seidel heads-up for the title. Hairabedian won his first bracelet in 2012 and has become the first Frenchman to own two pieces of WSOP gold.

"They have to give me credit now," Hairabedian said to the WSOP after his win. "What else can I do? Win a WSOP event on the moon? ... I want eight bracelets, like Erik. I have a big arm for them."

Year after year, Hairabedian travels Europe and is one of the most consistent players around. He's made 17 final tables in 2013 and is third on France's all-time money list trailing only Bertrand Grospellier and David Benyamine.

Seidel's runner-up finish was his second six-figure score in less than two months.

Although he didn't make the final table, Phil Hellmuth's 29th-place finish was significant. The all-time leader in WSOP bracelets notched his 100th career WSOP cash. For the first time in four years, Hellmuth did not make a final table in a WSOP event.
