NEW YORK -- Stephen Curry scored 13 of Davidson's final 15 points, helping the No. 23 Wildcats beat West Virginia 68-65 on Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic. A preseason All-American who became a national story during Davidson's NCAA tournament run last season, Curry made his final three shots from behind the arc. The last of those 3s gave the Wildcats (7-1) the lead for good at 64-62 with 39 seconds to play. He finished with 27 points, 4.3 below his average, on 9-of-27 shooting. Curry entered the game shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from behind the arc. Playing without second-leading scorer Alex Ruoff, the Mountaineers (6-2) got a career-high 24 points and 14 rebounds from Da'Sean Butler. Devin Ebanks added 13 points and 17 rebounds. The Mountaineers finished with a 58-32 rebound advantage, 29-12 on the offensive end. No. 6 Texas 67, No. 15 Villanova 58 NEW YORK -- A.J. Abrams had 26 points and Damion James added 16 to lead Texas to a victory over Villanova in the Jimmy V Classic. Abrams, who had 18 points in the second half, and James, the Longhorns' two leading scorers, combined to score 16 straight points for Texas (7-1) when it pulled away to a double-digit lead late in the second half. Dante Cunningham led the Wildcats (8-1) with 23 points and 12 rebounds. No. 14 Purdue 68, Ball St. 39 MUNCIE, Ind. -- Robbie Hummel had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Purdue, after sitting out Saturday's win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff due to back spasms. JaJuan Johnson scored 12 points and E'Twaun Moore and Nemanja Calasan added 10 points for the Boilermakers (7-2). Anthony Newell led Ball State (4-4) with 11 points and eight rebounds.
