U.S. field hockey to play Belgium for spot in Games

KAZAN, Russia -- Tiffany Snow scored her fifth goal of the tournament, and the U.S. remained undefeated at its Olympic field hockey qualifier with a 3-1 win over the Netherlands Antilles on Saturday.

The Americans (5-0) face Belgium (3-1-1) in the championship game Sunday. The winner earns a spot in the Beijing Games.

Kate Barber and Dana Sensenig also scored for the U.S., and Paulien Eigenhuis scored for the Netherlands Antilles (3-2).

"Our objective was to get through the pool play undefeated," Barber said. "Antilles really gave us a run for our money today. We're pleased with the result and look forward to tomorrow."

By winning the tournament, the U.S. would compete in the Olympics for the first time since 1996, when it qualified as the host country. The Americans haven't won a qualifier since 1988.

The U.S. beat Belgium 3-2 to start the preliminary round last Saturday. The Americans have outscored their other four opponents 21-1.
