FOXBOROUGH, Mass -- Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored his
fifth goal of the season late in the game, and the Columbus Crew
kept their MLS playoff hopes alive with three second-half goals to
stun the New England Revolution 3-2 Saturday night.

Columbus (8-11-10) -- with just one victory in its previous 10
games (1-6-3) entering the match -- is one of four teams in
contention for the final two playoff spots.

New England fell to 14-8-7 with one regular-season match
remaining. Columbus plays its final match next Saturday at Eastern
Conference-leading D.C. United.

Schelotto's game-winner came on a 25-year shot in the 86th
minute.

Steve Ralston set up Taylor Twellman's 15th goal of the season
in the 26th minute on a corner kick and scored himself in the 83rd
minute as the New England tied it at 2.<

WASHINGTON -- D.C. United and Chicago both extended unbeaten
streaks by playing to a scoreless tie.

United (16-6-7) is unbeaten in its last 13 MLS games. The Fire
(9-10-10) have a seven-game unbeaten streak. It was the first time
D.C. failed to score since losing 1-0 at New York on July 22, the
game before United started its streak.

United goalkeeper Troy Perkins had a season-high nine saves. He
tied his previous season high of eight in the first half. Both
teams had just one shot on goal after halftime.

United, trying to win the MLS Supporter's Shield for the second
straight season, remains on top of the league standings with 55
points with one game remaining. Chivas USA has 52 points with two
games left. Chicago remains in position for the eighth and final
playoff spot with one game left.<

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Juan Pablo Angel scored two goals
to lead New York over Kansas City.

The Red Bulls (12-11-6) clinched third place in the MLS' Eastern
Conference, while the Wizards (10-12-7) missed an opportunity to
take the conference's final playoff spot. Kansas City is tied with
Chicago, with both teams having one game left.

Angel's first goal came when he converted a penalty kick in the
19th minute. Kansas City tied it 90 seconds later when Davy Arnaud
took a direct free kick from 30 yards out and it was headed in by
Jack Jewsbury for his second goal of the season.

The Red Bulls, though, regained the lead 3 minutes later when
Angel scored his 19th goal of the year, beating goaltender Kevin
Hartman.<

CARSON, Calif. -- Edson Buddle scored in the 78th minute,
and Los Angeles used its fifth consecutive victory to move within
four points of Chicago and Kansas City, which are tied for the
final spot in the eight-team MLS playoffs.

Toronto FC (6-17-6) is winless in 15 of its past 16 league and
exhibition games.

Toronto played with 10 men after Marco Reda was ejected in the
54th minute for pulling Gavin Glinton's jersey in the penalty area.
The foul resulted in Landon Donovan's penalty kick.

Reda and teammate Adam Braz will be suspended for Toronto's
season finale Oct. 20 against New England. Braz received a yellow
card in the 35th minute.
