PARIS, Aug 16 - Nancy moved alongside Le Mans at
the top of Ligue 1 thanks to a 2-1 home win over Nice on
Thursday. Central defender Sebastien Puygrenier opened the scoring for
the hosts with a 51st-minute volley after Moroccan midfielder
Youssouf Hadji had struck the crossbar. Nice levelled 10 minutes later with a penalty from Habib
Bamogo before Pascal Berenguer nodded Nancy back in front in the
66th minute. Nancy and Le Mans are the only teams with maximum points
from three matches. Olympique Marseille suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at
Valenciennes on Wednesday, the same day as Girondins Bordeaux
lost by the same score at home to Le Mans. Champions Olympique Lyon have three points from two games.
