Thrashers sign free agent center Giroux

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Thrashers signed free agent center
Alexandre Giroux to a multiyear deal Friday.

The 26-year-old Giroux had two goals and two assists in nine
games with the Washington Capitals last season. Giroux also played
in 67 games with Hershey of the American Hockey League, recording a
career-high 70 points (42 goals, 28 assists).

The Thrashers also have signed centers Todd White and Eric
Perrin, along with defenseman Ken Klee, in the offseason.

Veteran center Steve Rucchin failed his last physical with the
team and hasn't played since early February because of a
concussion.

The team's first-round pick last year, 19-year-old center Bryan
Little, is getting a look in training camp.
